Tying your tubes after a c-section

Hi Lovely Ladies...
I have a question about having your tubes tied after having a c-section...does anyone have any experience with it? I am currently preggo with number two and am having a c-section and figured I'd just ask them to tie my tubes while they were in there. Any input would be appreciated. TIA.

Thats what I did, had them done when I had my c-section. Really isn't a whole lot to tell. It just took a little extra time on the table. That was pretty much it. My dr. seemed to be happy to do it then (we had discussed it prior of course). Saved having to have an additional *surgery*. Wish I could offer you more then that. Good luck :)

I had it done 11 years ago August 24.

I decided after 4 children that I was done. If I knew then what I know now I never would have had my tubes tied.

Everyone reacts differently.. but the tubal was the worst mistake I've ever made. While the operation itself was no biggy. The recovery time was the same as it was with my first three c-sections.. my periods now are murderous. The dr says there is no connection between the tubal and my period problems but I don't believe it for a minute.

Anyway, as far as the tubal/c-section.. there realy isn't any difference. You have the same aches and pains as you do with a c-section alone.

My friend Valerie had the same experience w/her tubal. She has AWFUL periods, and her doctor insists that there is absolutely no connection, but I think he's wrong.

My mom had a tubal many years ago too. And she also regrets it, not for the not having anymore children part. But she feels that it impacted her body more physically. A few years back she had a hysterectomy and endo. And she feels like there was a connection there also.

I also have 4 kids, but I opted out of anything permanent for myself ( my ex had a vasectomy). For me it was more of the feeling that I always wanted the option to have more kids. I don't know if I ever will.... there are those days.. :)

i consider my tubal a blessing. I had a c-section with my last kid and he did my tubal while i was open. I didnt think my recovery time was any different then my c-section with my last c-section before that. before i had my tubal my periods were massivly heavy for 5 days straight. Now my periods are heavy for 2 days and my period is over by day 4. Every so often i get really bad cramps but not enough to hate em.

I had my tubes tied when my last delivery resulted in a c-section. Good choice for me I was 35. No biggy. Horrible nasty periods before/horrible nasty periods after. No pregnancy worries because I am Fertile Myrtle. If you are done having children why endure another round of anestesia and surgery if you can get it over with then. Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy and delivery.

You need to have your request in writing 30-60 days prior to your c-section...and if for whatever reason your section is deemed emergency, most docs will not perform the tubal at that time. This happened to me...i had to go back at 10wks pp and have it done laproscopicly.

I went with Essure myself (www.essure.com) but I did that because I didn't want incisions or complications (cutting/burning tubes would be HORRIBLE to have complications with x_x), if you're already getting incisions for the c-section then maybe a tubal isn't a big deal. I ended up having complications with Essure BUT they don't actually affect anything. The company has their "preferred" position for the inserts and I've got one in further than perfect and in the other tube I've got two, bonus coil! XDD I can't talk up the procedure enough, I loved it. The worst part wasn't the procedure or cramping, but was the anesthesia (DON'T EVER GET A SPINAL EVER). Also, I've never heard of the increased bleeding with a tubal but I can say that my bleeding has decreased after Essure and so has my cramping. It may just be because I'm on my 3rd month of Yasmin and the hormones are finally kicking in but I dunno. Last time I was on hormones (nuvaring) they started working IMMEDIATELY (like..after insertion o_o ) to rid me of cramps and the last two months of Yasmin showed not the slightest decrease in pain.

Sterilizationqa might be able to help you out but it's a recent community so it might be lacking info just because of that :/
