i've heard all this stuff about the keeper. has anyone ever tried instead? if i'm not mistaken its just like a keeper but no stem. can anyone tell me more about it? the mechanics and stuff?

Instead Softcups are actually very different than the Keeper, MoonCup, or DivaCup. the three I just mentioned are similarly shaped, kind of like a cone, have a stem, and work with suction to catch a woman's menstrual blood. Softcups are just that-- soft. they have a flexible but stiff circle that fits behind the pelvic bone so that they stay in place. they are also disposable, unlike the other three. women can also have sex while Softcups are in place.

I, personally, have never been able to get a Softcup to work, but I absolutely adore my DivaCup.

ditto the above post. the soft cups have to be propped on your pubic bone correctly. for some reason, i could never get it to stay there, thus the cup would go vertical and i'd leak.

instead and keeper are similar in that they both collect blood rather than absorbing it, but the keeper sits lower in your vagina, while the instead goes basically just under your cervix.

I love instead. The cup is shaped like a small diaphragm and is inserted the same way. (Please don't try to use it for bc though.) It fits right up under the cervix and if correctly inserted shouldn't be felt.

I tried instead cups. I was never sure if I got them on correctly and when I thought I had, they'd slip out after 30 minutes or so. I think my cervix is too small to hold them in place - they're huge!

I personally loved Instead cups before I had my IUD inserted. (Can't use them with IUDs because you could cause the damn thing to dislodge!) But, I didn't wear them while doing errands, etc. They're perfect if you're going to be sitting at a desk working all day.


Haven't used divacup or keeper, so I don't know about them. Rather not try because I am deathly paranoid of dislodging my expensive piece of plastic.

I'm on my second cycle with the Insteads. I decided to try them because I was sick of tampons, and I liked the idea of being able to have sex while wearing one. I was also interested in a DivaCup or Keeper, but buying one somehow seemed like a big commitment of some sort (ordering it online, waiting, it being like 30 bucks or something). So I saw the Insteads at CVS last month and picked them up. So far I love them - they're inserted right behind the pubic bone and you can't feel them if done correctly. Unlike the Keeper and DivaCup and such, Insteads are one-time-use disposables. So you take 'em out and toss 'em as opposed to dumping, washing and re-using them.

I tried Insteads once and really didn't like them. I just could not get them over my cervix and when I finally thought I did get one in right it leaked.

I love the DivaCup, though. In my opinion it's much easier to insert. It's also a lot cheaper in the end because you can re-use it.

I tried Insteads and didn't like them - the plastic rim is thick and really uncomfortable for me. In fact, if you want to try my box and will pay the postage, I'll send mine to you - I only used a few from the box.

i love my diva cup!!! i just tried instead and don't like it as much. it is messier (managed not go get blood on my clothes however!) it leaked on me, and it was hard to get in and to have STAY in the right place. i do like the fact that you can wear the instead during sex, which is why i bought it and pry the only time i'll use it. my SO did say he could feel *something* but that it was still *okay*! XD

I love, love, love the Instead, however there is one drawback if you are a heavy bleeder, it tends to leak. So.... to overcome this dilemma (because I am a heavy bleeder) is to add two or three cotton pads or cotton balls to the cup before insertion (I like the makeup removal cotton pads becuase they are flat), this keeps the cup from leaking and it helps prevent spills during removal. I'm with you on that. I love Insteads, however I have to add cotton pads to my cup to keep from making a mess when I remove it.
