About the bathtub - water suction thing...

This is with regards to this post, about sucking up water through your snatch while in the bathtub...

I don't like to take full immersion baths anymore, prescisely because I'm afraid of getting water in my snatch.
I sort of have a germ thing when it comes to my snatch... So my thought process goes, "It's dirty bathtub water. It has my germs in it & cleaning solution residue used once a week. And since the tub is used by other people in this house, it has shower-and-foot germs in it."

So really now, how risky is it to take a tub bath, in germs of likelyhood of getting a vaginal infection?
If you get tub water in your vaginal opening or vagina, is that bad? So just how far up there is it likely to go?

I wouldn't use special soaps, fragrances, bath bombs or whatever in it. Just Dove bar soap & maybe a little plain epsom salts.

Unless you're trying, or pushing something into your vagina (such as a penis or dildo) while in the water, you won't get water into your vagina. Your vagina stays fairly closed and also has an air-pocket type of effect. Plus, if you were to get tub water in there somehow just sitting there, it wouldn't likely do anything harmful. They tell you not to have sex in water and such because it THRUSTS water into your vagina...and that's the bad part. Sitting in it is harmless.

Hope that helps.

I used to sit in the tub while the shower was running to shave my legs: made it easier to get at some parts: also, I was lazy I suppose. After a few weeks of this, I realized I was getting a yeast infection. I don't know if they're related, but I do share the shower with the rest of my family, and my dad does occasionally have athlete's foot, along with all those other germs, so I think that might have contributed to it.

Then again, I don't know. Now that I think about it, I never want to take a bath again. Eesh...All those germs and stuff in the tub... *cringe*

I'm a total non-germaphobe. :P But I also live by myself, so any germs created in the bathtub are mine, all mine, mwahaaha.

Um, for serious though, the only thing I've ever heard of causing problems in baths is using too much bubblebath, too often. Cause it messes with the pH and all that good stuff. But just regular bathing? Never had a problem.

I bathe pretty much every other day in a bathtub I share with a boy. I clean it maybe once a month. I always am getting water in my cooter because I tend to Kegal without thinking about it. I've had exactly one yeast infection and one case of BV and both occurred at the same time immediately after I had come home from the hospital after having a catheter in, so it was unrelated to my bathing. The cooter is a magical instrument of self cleaning, I wouldn't worry about it as long as you're not putting in bath oils, etc.

I am a bath person ... I'll take a lovely hot bath over a shower anyday! I have never had any problems whatsoever because of it.

same here.

sometimes i'd like to take a shower instead.. but not often, and when i do, i don't do it because i'm too lazy to put the shower curtain back up from when we took it down to get an appraisal.

Adding Epson salts to the bath could help clear your mind of worry, since salt has some antibacterial effects (a lot of organisms can't survive in saline environments). You can also rinse out the tub a little with hot water before starting to fill the bath, to get rid of any soap/cleaner/etc. residue.

As far as personal experience goes, I love taking baths (in the winter I take up to 2 a day). I've never had any kind of vaginal infection (that I know of), and I've always taken baths in shared bath tubs. I don't think you have very much to worry about!

I'm fairly lazy when it comes to tub scrubbing and I've never had any problems. I've gotten YI's from using bubble baths too often, but that's the only vagina-related troubles I've had.

My vagina stays pretty closed during a bath. I don't spread my legs or anything. I like to shave my legs after sitting and exfoliating in a bath for a few minutes. and when I don't need to shave, but I want a bath, I use all sorts of stuff (salts, soaks, bath bombs, bubble bath, etc.) because I love buying bath goodies. So I violate a lot of those vagina PH laws, and I haven't had a yeast infection or bacterial issues yet. But I do draw the line at sucking water into it, even if it was just bath water without anything fancy in it. The one time I do it, I'll probably freak out about getting my first infection. so I don't wanna test it.

i love in-water sex and playing around while in the tub and that includes bath bombs and bubble baths from lush and body shop, PIV sex, gspot vibes, regular vibes, dildos...i've done it in the pool too, but my pool doesn't have a chlorine-based cleaning system.

I make sure the tub's clean beforehand, but it's mostly used by only me.

i've yet to get any sort of infection or any problem, but...I've actually never ever had any sort of infection down there at all...

One heads up though, if you do plan on trying it, I suggest some good silicone lube. Doesn't wash away :)
