heat and pubic hair

Hey everybody

I have a question – due to a physical disability, I can’t trim my pubic hair myself. I live with my parents and my mother thinks “only hookers and porn stars” trim. *rolls eyes* However, in the summer it gets uncomfortable and itchy. So do any of you lovely ladies have suggestions of how to keep me more comfortable?

Thanks

cotton underwear and pants that aren't too tight. something that'll keep airflow :P

Have you asked your mum, telling her that it makes you physically uncomfortable? She is probably saying the "hookers and pornstars" things because she associates trimming with sex. By explaining exactly why you'd like her help with that, you challenge her thinking on the matter.

Failing that, do you have any good friends who could help you out?

I also think it would be good to have a friend help you out. However, if that's not possible...
Wearing full skirts with no underwear in the summer feels wonderful!

It can be uncomfortable, itchy, and painful in the summer heat after you shave and the stubble starts to grow in. Just something else to think about. I do find that a large bush of pubic hair can be itchy/uncomfortable at times, but I find that the growing stubble is much more bothersome. Wearing cotton underwear or no underwear at all would be a good start, and also not wearing tight pants.

Do you have a good friend who can help you out?

If you're comfortable with it, you might want to discuss with your mother how it makes you feel that she thinks only prostitutes and porn stars shave their pubic hair. That's a very closed-minded way of thinking.

i think she's just talking about trimming, not shaving.

Baby powder might help make your skin feel a bit more comfortable.

Baby powder in the pubic region should be avoided because it has been linked to ovarian cancer.

Oooh... good to know!
Would a "pure cornstarch" variety of baby powder (no talc) be safe?

Not to be too nosy, but do you have a PCA or NA come to help you out at all? I'm a PCA and when I worked in home care, I've trimmed and/or shaved pubic hair for a couple of the women I worked with. It was awkward for the patient to ask, but it didn't bother me to help them out at least.

Of course, if you can do all your personal care on your own, or if your mom helps you, then that's a moot point.

Are you able to get out without your mum being around/knowing where you are? I was thinking perhaps a carer or a friend could take you to get a wax, as that would last a lot longer - I shave, but the growing back can be uncomfortable and has to be done all the time.

i don't have any suggestions except a professional wax/trim, but i do sympathize: when i was younger my parents still thought that only loose women wore a lot of red, forget thongs, shaving/trimming, toys... .

I don't know what your disability is, but if it helps, you can get electric trimmers. They require no effort in the hands, but you do have to be able to reach.

If you can reach down there, try using surgical/medical tape to tape the hair to one side. It should keep it from poking around too much.
