Discharge Question

Me again.
I have more questions! I think I have had more questions about my body since going off HBC than the 10 years prior and 6 on HBC combined!
This could be unrelated to discontiuing the pill, too I guess.

For the last month I have been experiencing itching around my vulva and an increase in discharge. I've had yeast infections before and this is nothing like those. Sometimes the discharge is more like a fluid and really something you can't see other than having wet underwear. It has a very sweet odor to it. (and to clarify I haven't been consuming large amounts of sugar). Sometimes the discharge is clear  and gel-like but also has a strong sweet odor. The discharge seems to go back and forth between gel-like and watery. Sometimes it has smelled kinda funky at the end of the day- not fishy, but (forgive the example- I don't know how else to explain it!) more like when its time to clean the hamster's wet bedding, but still has a slight sweet odor.(eww) Last night a glop of discharge came out- light yellow in color with a red chunk in it. It was about 2 tablespoons worth in amount and it was very congealed together (not runny at all). There was no discoloration or any discharge at all before or after when I wiped. My period isn't due for 3 weeks.  Side note- this could be something else, too but I thought it may be related- I have been nauseated every morning for the last month. I don't think I could be pregnant, I just had a full period.
Is this my body still adjusting to being off HBC? This is my 3rd cycle off the pill.  My husband and I have only had sex using condoms (non-latex). Is this some kind of infection? I am going to the gyno next week, but I am worried. Last night's weird discharge is the thing that freaked me out the most. In 16 years I've never had *that* happen. Any insights??
Thanks so much for your help!

Hmm it might be some sort of infection. The yellow color leads me to think that. As for the smell, it doesn't sound like a traditional bacterial infection (usually fish/foul). Good luck with everything!

a week or 2 ago, i went off Ortho Tricyclen Lo (was on it for 8 months or so) and just today i had this crazy discharge. it was white, milky/creamy, and sweet smelling. there was a LOT of it, maybe around 2 tbsp, and my pantiliner was almost soaked through. well, not soaked through, there was just a lot more discharge.

i don't know if that's the same thing you have, because it's only been today. let us know what happens when you see your gyno!

The discharge you described as a cohesive glob sounds like it might very well be the type of cervical mucous you get when you're ovulating - which definitely should be worlds different from anything you'd get on the pill, since the pill obviously prevents ovulation (and its accompanying telltale mucous) and also thins your normal cervical mucous to be less hospitable to spermies. Infection can change the consistency of your discharge, but it would usually make it runnier or creamier or kind of lumpy, and I think it would be very odd for an infection to be responsible for discharge that's totally cohesive like that. I wouldn't advise you not to go to the doctor, since it definitely sounds like a huge departure from the norm for you, but I also wouldn't be too surprised if it turns out to be within the range of what's normal and healthy.

During an average cycle, I used to go from runny & creamy discharge (in the first week after my period) to HUGE clear, stretchy globs when I was fertile, then in the last week before my period I'd get opaque, sticky, smaller globs. Each type smelled different and it varied from month to month. Now my discharge hardly changes at all during the month and I rather miss the differentiation :D
