i put in/take out my nuva ring on fridays..last week i took it out on friday morning at about 7am..and i didnt put my new one in until this past friday at probably around 6pm..is that still considered to be within the 7 days out and still be protected rule? or was i too late and now i'm not protected for 7 days?

That said, in my personal opinion (and I don't have any facts or links or research to substantiate this personal opinion) a difference of less than 12 hours isn't something I would be particularly worried about.
If you're really concerned, you could always use a backup method of birth control for seven days after you first inserted the ring.
