Bloodstains.

(Mods : I'm sorry if there's like a big entry for stuff like this - if there is feel free to direct me to it and I'll repost. ^^)

I found a new quick trick for getting bloodstains out of underwear - Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash and cold water. XD It works better than soaking, and it doesn't ruin the fabric, at least with cotton underwear. Just soak the knickers in cold water, put some soap on, and scrub a little. It comes right out. ^^ Incidentally, it also works for getting sharpie off of skin. XD

Hope that's useful for someone!

Another thing that works wonders for bloodstains is hydrogen peroxide. It literally bubbles the blood right off the fabric, so not only is it effective, it's cool as hell to watch. It's also really cheap--bottles of the stuff are, like, $2, max.

Yes. I AMAZED my girlfriend with that trick a couple times.

Hm.

I think that I might purposely get a pair of underwear really, really bloody just so I can do this and see what happens.

peroxide does work well

However be careful not to use it on fabrics that use all-natural dyes as it can remove or partially remove a lot of that color as well.

IAWTC
It took a whole nosebleed out of a pure white shirt and I've been a believer ever since.

This is due to an enzyme in cells

called peroxidase. It is used to break down stuff that is used to kill bacteria with peroxide.

But older bloodstains won't do the cool bubbly thing - the enzyme will break down with time.

Thanks! I sort of vaguely remembered that from high school biology, but not in so much detail.
