I'm bitter. :[

While I was wandering around my house this morning I felt a glob of discharge exit my lovely vagina, so I headed off to the bathroom to investigate. What I found was a milky white liquid that wasn't watery but also wasn't super thick. I tasted it and it tasted reeaally bitter. Silly me didn't think of smelling it until later. This is the first time I've noticed this. I had a guy go down on me last night, so I'm going to ask him today if he thought I tasted/smelled normal. My question is, what is this bitter discharge? I checked the entries thinking it could be bv or something, but I couldn't find an entry that mentioned the taste of the discharge. Help!

I've had a kind of bitter taste from time to time. Unless there was a strong odor from it, & since you tasted it & couldn't smell anything, I din't think I'd worry about it. Could be something you ate or drank or if you have taken any medication that can cause a different taste.

(=-o I've never tasted "down there".. and this actually sounds new to me haha :P. Is there a certain taste that you should taste like? And, can you get sick from it?) haha sorry for asking that in someone elses post :P.

From what I've heard every girl has a unique taste and that taste can change through out her cycle. I've heard of girls tasting like anything from beef ramen to raspberries.

I don't think you can get sick from it as long as you don't have something like BV or YI.

Nah, you can't get sick at all. It's not weird or anything, I've seen lots of post & replies here with girls who have said they taste themselves. There really isn't a certain taste, like I said as long as there isn't a bad odor you are fine.

it could just be vaginal muscous.
that happens to me all the time.

Probably just leftovers from last night. Sometimes discharge hangs around up there and starts to get a little tangy. It should be fine!

not helpful, but. first thing i thought was: how would you go about tasting without smelling first?
:) i always sniff everything before i stick out my tongue.

Did you have sex last night? I sometimes get that after sex.. like.. not normally leakage, but the next day.. I can get globs.

Every woman has a normal discharge that comes and goes throughout the month. I've read many times that a milky white discharge is totally "healthy" while anything "fishy" smelling/tasting could mean you have a yeast infection. I bet what you have is normal and nothing to worry about:)

Well fishy would most likely mean a bacterial infection. Yeast infections can have clumpy white discharge and not smell at all or smell yeasty (like bread or beer). But milky white discharge is most likely due to your body's preparation for ovulation each month and perfectly normal.
