(no subject)

so, i'm a little confused.
if you know you've ovulated, be it through ovulation pain or whatever else, then if you wait a couple more days, are you then unfertile (read: safe to have unprotected sex) at least until your period arrives, maybe even during your period, as long as you give it around a week before you're next due to ovulate?

in other words, how long does it take for the egg to go 'too far' to become fertalised?

edit: i am not going to have unprotected sex, i'm just curious. i know that sperm can live for five days or so, but even giving a week's leeway BEFORE ovulation, and several days AFTER ovulation, that still leaves a lot of potentially 'safe' days in a 29 day cycle (my average is 29).

1. You can never be sure when you ovulate unless you use FAM.
2. Sperm can live inside of you for 3 days. So if you have sex during an "unfertile period", an egg may still be fertlized.

I remember from health class there is only a three day period when you aren't fertile, and that's on a perfect 28-day cycle.

Sperm can live inside of you for more like 5 days. and actually, that
"3 days when you're not fertile" thing is incorrect as well.

It would be great if you could back up your corrections with some resources :)
