leg BO

My boyfriend suggested I keep my "area" trimmed so that it doesn't smell like girl sweat when he goes down on me. He doesn't mean shave it, he just means keep it shorter and neater. But whenever I've tried that, I've always gotten REALLY itchy...even when I barely trim ANYTHING! He thinks it's psychological, but I'm not so sure...has anyone heard of this before? Is there something to counter it? Remember, it's not my natural vaginal smell I'm talking about, it's the B.O. from any sweating I do between my legs.

I've referenced VP's archives, and I'm going to try giving myself a little wipedown before playtime and see if that helps. Any other suggestions?

Baby wipes (just the generic kind, don't shell out money for the expensive brands) are my best friend.

I second that.

You can buy a HUGE container of them at the dollar store.

Aren't they scented?? I never pay much attention to baby wipes, haha.

[identity profile] angeleyes2699.livejournal.com 2005-04-01 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
They can be, but they are usually quite gentle. I'm crazy prone to yeast infections and I can't go near my vagina with soap of any kind, and they don't bother me. That said, you can buy unscented ones, as well.

But wouldn't they leave a weird taste?

[identity profile] angeleyes2699.livejournal.com 2005-04-01 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe rinse afterwards?

I usually use them for post-sex clean up or throughout the day clean up rather than pre-sex clean up. So I wouldn't really know ...

i can't believe you can use babywipes down there!
CRAZY!
i always feared infection of sorts.
Good to know- thanks.

One of the best pieces of advice my momma ever gave me -- always have a box of them on the back of your toilet/in the bathroom cabinet. Great for freshening up and cleaning up.

Good advice! Thanks.
i'm always a bit afraid of putting anything besides water near my tanky...

I was that way (and still am, for the most part). But these are quite safe; at least, they are for me (everyone is differernt, right?)

[identity profile] lisbonlovesjacq.livejournal.com 2005-04-01 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Well they do use them for babies down there so I'd assume it's okay.

[identity profile] angeleyes2699.livejournal.com 2005-04-01 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I *think* you can get unscented ones. I'm almost positive.

[identity profile] nephron.livejournal.com 2005-04-01 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I use unscented babywipes for all sorts of things.

[identity profile] angeleyes2699.livejournal.com 2005-04-01 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for baby wipes!

[identity profile] infiniteblue25.livejournal.com 2005-04-02 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
make sure they contain no Glycerin.... women here have reported getting yeast infection from babywipes they do also have several "feminine" wipe things available

I itch, too, so I don't think it's psychological. Mine gets all bristly if I trim it, so I thing the sharp ends are what makes it itch. I don't know what to tell you, though. I hope someone else has a suggestion.

Ditto that. I don't know if you can do anything about the itchiness.

If you're going to try trimming, you may want to use a tactic that I like to employ.

I bought an electric bikini-line trimmer. It cost about $20 and is an unhealthy shade of pink. I trim right before I get into the shower, so that any errant hairs still remaining will get washed away. I find it really cuts down on the itch factor.

Hope this helps!

Hehe I have that trimmer, too. And I always trim before a shower, and shave afterwards.

Ditto, except mine is lavender, lol. I also recommend Netrogena Anti-itch cream *shrug* it might help.

Try trimming just your labia, lower, closer to your butt. Then you can wipe that area easier. The upper parts of your har (where it's probably itching most) won't get as much sweat from you legs as the area lower, closer to your butt and vagina. You can also use wipes, too.

If you're not doing this already, you might want to try wearing cotton undies. More breathable, less sweating. Looser-fitting pants help too.

If you don't feel comfortable trimming don't. You'll only find yourself feeling naked and itchy and the oral sex is supposed to befor your pleasure, eh? Be responsive to his needs but try to keep your health and comfort in mind first. I find the wiping myself down with a fresh clean wash cloth can be comforting before sex if I've been very active or pee'd alot. I wouldn't personally use baby wipes for fear of scents, oils, etc causing irritation, but some people swear by them.

Tell him to cut off his balls because they stink when he sweats. I can't stand it when guys are so insensitive. Perhaps he was nice about it, but I don't really see a nice way of saying, "Your sweaty crotch smells rather rotten, my love." ;P

Seriously, though...perhaps taking a shower together before anything goes on can help. You can rinse off any nastiness that may offend and also can tease one another whilst washing. I have always liked taking pre-sex showers with my lover, so if you haven't tried before, perhaps you should. :)

Ouch. I still suggest the take a shower together. :)
