Vaginal discharge

Hi gals, every few months or so, my vaginal discharge will start to turn very yellowish and give off a bad smell. Sometimes there'll be streaks of blood in the discharge as well. The amount of blood is a little too much to be passed off as spotting and I think it has nothing to do with my menstrual period. There's also a little soreness at my vagina area. It's worrying me a bit as I think this is happening too many times. Does anyone know what's happening to me. Do I need to see a doctor? Thanks so much!

Yes, I would go to a doctor. It sounds like you have an infection like vaginitis or something similar.

It could be an infection, or something completely innocent...but I would go to the doctor if I were you simply so you won't have to worry anymore! I don't know if you're a worrier like me, but I can turn a stomachache into cancer, so I would go to the doctor before you BECOME like me. Just kidding, but seriously, it'll be worth it to find out what's going on. Please keep us posted!

Sounds like it could be a bacterial infection. Nothing serious, but definitely needs to be checked out by a doctor.

If you frequently have a speck of blood far away from your period, it's probably ovulatory spotting (if you're not on a bc pill, anyway). When some women ovulate, they spot blood very lightly. It's probably nothing at all to worry about, honestly!

If you have the money to spare (or good insurance!) go for it. Otherwise, I'd wait to see where in my cycle the spotting fell. I'd be really surprised if it wasn't half way between periods (during ovulation!). ;)
