Daily yeast infection prevention

Hey superstars!

I am just recently starting to have sex on a regular basis again (yay!) and regular sex starts making me much more susceptible to yeast infections. Are there any really good daily supplements (besides eating yogurt, I really really hate plain yogurt) that I can use to be preventative? Regular acidophilus pills? Something stronger? I'm in the USA, if that makes a difference.

I'm looking for your fall-back, can't-live-without-it additions to your daily routine!

Thanks!

Lemme see what springs to mind!

• Acidophilus pills orally or vaginally (get the kind that want to be refrigerated; or, even if you get "shelf-stable" pills, put 'em in the fridge when they come home).

• Boric Acid on a preventative basis seem to help some people.

• Coconut Oil as a lube is apparently nice if you're not using latex condoms, and may have mild anti-fungal properties.

• Make sure that your partner treats his/her genitals as well, so as not to harbor a mild yeastie and pass it back to you!

If it's Acidophilus, then acidophilus is acidophilus, which appears to be something of a jack-of-all-trades Lactobacillus. There are some other types of lactobacillus which colonize the vagina, which might be bundled in yeast-infection-prevention brands. Look for: "L. iners, L. crispatus, L. gasseri, L. jenesenii [the primary lactobacilli in the vaginal ecosystem], followed by L. acidophilus, L. fermentum, L. plantarum, L. brevis, L. casei, L. vaginalis, L. delbrueckii, L. salivarius, L. reuteri, and L. rhamnosus." (According to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2662373/)

Glad to be helpful!

AZO makes a good probiotic yeast supplement, I take one a day and it helps a lot. They're in the section by the condoms at our WalMart, and by the feminine supplies at Kroger
