Period pause

The first 4 days of my period are heavy and bright red. Then I have a day where almost nothing comes out - a few drops at most. Then, that night it's like my period starts all over again (I even get another PMS-like headache), bright and heavy, until on the 7th day it dwindles and stops. I've been on the patch for a few years and I seem to have this period pattern for the last few months.

It's not really bothering me; just wondering if anyone else has this experience, don't want to be feeling abnormal, etc. Thanks :)

i have a similar pattern, it just doesn't last as long. probably 4 or 5 days at most.

Mine used to do that all the time when I was in my teens and twenties. 3-4 days on, one day off, then another three days.

Sometimes that happens to me--after the first 3 or 4 days my period will seem to abruptly stop, then that night the flow just as abruptly becomes relatively heavy again for about a day, then just dwindles and stops around day 6 or 7.

This is really comforting to hear and I kept meaning to ask this question myself and never got around to doing it so I'm glad you did! :D

Mine's the same way - 2-3 days heavy with a break of about a day and a half and then another 2 days on. Not on any kind of meds or birth control. Would love to hear if others are/n't on any form of meds or birth control either. About to turn 27 in a month and this has been my pattern for probably 2 years.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I've been meaning to ask for a while but it never seemed important enough. I think we're ok, it just seems a little weird (and perhaps unfair!) to have a break and then start again.
