Should I be worried?

So I my have accidentally gotten some grossness in my vagina after anal sex yesterday. Now my period in my cup smells a bit off. Should I wait? What can I do to prevent going to the doctors for an antibiotic? I don't have abnormal discharge (I am on my period) and I don't itch.

Thank you.

well one of the benefits of menstruation is a natural cleaning cycle!!! So hopefully it will help flush any of the bacteria or other 'grossness' that you may of gotten in there. there's a lot of other things that can contribute to the change of smell of the discharge as well. It could be as simple as too much caffeine, to too much sugar, or any other positive or negative change in your diet. Even stress levels can affect the PH balance of your vaginal fluids, etc.

I would avoid using your menstrual cup during your period in case there is bacteria trapped in your vagina.

If you can, you might want to douche with boric acid for a few days to help your vag clean out.

You might also consider taking some cranberry pills or drinking cranberry juice, as it makes the bacteria less likely to "stick", leading to urinary problems.

water, water, water, yogurt, garlic, cotton underpants (comando when you can), probiotics, water and so on and so forth.

Hopefully your period will sort any possible bad bacteria out on its own. :)
