Mysterious Blood

Ok -
So this is weird. I unexpectedly got my period (it wasnt due for another 2 weeks, and Im never this early). I put on a pad, and went about my business. Then I checked the pad, a little bit later, and there was no more blood. That was 2 days ago, and still no more blood. So I was just bleeding for some strange reason, and it looked exactly like period blood. wtf wtf wtf??? did i have a miscarriage, or some weird infection? has this ever happened to anyone before? Do you think I need to make an appt w/ my gyno? Nothing else has happened - no weird smells, or discharge. Im really confused. Help, please! :)

EDITED TO ADD: I am NOT on bc. I know sometimes the pill can cause breakthrough bleeding, but is it normal when you're not on the pill? Thanks again!

Are you on BC? If so, it could just be random breakthrough bleeding, which happens for all sorts of reasons, including the whims of your uterus.

I'm not a lot of help but I don't think it would be a miscarriage. For one, this would probably be around the time you are ovulating. Two I had a miscarriage very early on in pregnancy (4 and a half weeks) and bled for about ten days, was confined to bed for three. It's definitely something you notice...

Perhaps you are ovulating? I always get a bit of random spotting when I ovulate.

Miscarriages cause A LOT of blood, so this is definitely not just a miscarriage.

Don't be freaked, it's probably just spotting.

I think it depends on how much blood. If it was just a little it should be normal. The occasional spotting is normal. But if it was a significant amount of blood, it could have been something more; maybe a hormone fluctuation or the signs of a cyst or fibroid. I would suggest you wait until you have your period and see if anything else is abnormal (heavier or lighter bleeding than usual, worse than average cramping or PMS, discharge, or anything else that's strange for your body). If everything seems typical, then it was almost certainly nothing (at least nothing that can't wait for your next physical, where you might bring it up if you are still worried). If something is unusual about your period, I would suggest an appointment then.

I had this recently too, but I was REALLY stressed out, so I blame it on that, since I'm also not on birth control. So maybe it could be because you're stressed?

Yes, that sounds like it's around your ovulation... Could an ovarian cyst have popped, maybe? Though some people just spot when they ovulate.

I would wait and see how it goes; it may be a one-time weirdness, and if you don't feel "off" in any other way, you can probably just make a note to mention it to your gyno at the next usual checkup. (Maybe you could call in and ask them to put the data in your files?)

I wouldn't worry about it...it might have been some spotting due to ovulation (which is a normal thing to have) or it might have just been one of those things. All in all, I don't imagine its anything to be concerned about.

For reassurance: I've got a totally normal, healthy cycle, never been late except when I was under extreme stress. I spot occasionally, and it's usually barely worth noting, just enough to make me wonder if I'm starting early. So I'd say this is just one of those things that happens, nothing to worry about. :)
