Period again? On Birth control. Maybe spotting?

I already had my period for January. Because that's when I started my birth control.  But this morning I bled but not very heavy and feels like I'm on my period. I only seem to have bled for about 15min or something. And when I went to bathroom again within like an hour or a little less, I wasn't bleeding. The blood went from bright to dark(maroon ish color).

Very strange. I'm not sure if this is spotting or really my period. I've never spotted before. But I don't think it was spotting.

Edited

My period only lasted 4 days instead of the usual 5 days Because I started the Birth Control. .So I'm wondering if maybe that's it.

What part of your birth control pack are you on?

Here's a quick answer though: when first starting hormonal birth control, it's pretty common to have some irregular bleeding. It can take up to three months for your body's bleeding pattern to fully adjust to the pill's cycle.

So it's the fourth week in the pack?

If so, then you are on your placebo week, which is when you are supposed to get your withdrawal bleed, so you're right on schedule! The pills in the fourth week are placebo pills, which means they contain no hormones.

If there are only three weeks in your pack, then you are still taking active pills and this is just breakthrough bleeding.

Yep yep -- then your body is in synch with the pill's cycle, as it's supposed to be.
