DivaCup refund policy

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post about the Diva; I'll probably keep trying it for a couple cycles (at least on days when I'm at home most of the time so as to avoid the public hands-down-my-pants scenario). Last night when I went to sleep it seemed to be poking me still, but when I woke up it seemed to fit great! But I had class/work to go to and didn't want to worry about it during my test, so I took it out. We'll see how it goes tonight.

The main reason of my post: I e-mailed the DivaCup folks at the website and got the response that they are no longer doing returns! I'll post most of the e-mail here, since I figure that anyone thinking about a Diva should know about that.

Dear Gina:

Although some sites may state that we have a return policy, we have discontinued refunds. Instead, we offer continued assistance on how to use the cup should one need more information. We find that very few women want to return The DivaCupĀ® after mastering its use.

Also, the nature of the product precludes returns because of health considerations.

We suggest that you inquire about the refund policy at the store or e-catalog from which you purchased.

...

Please read the instructions carefully, and you should be able to master it.

Warm Regards,

The DivaCupĀ® Team

The e-mail then continued with several tips about using the DivaCup, all of which I'd heard before. Believe me, I read the instructions :-P Oh well, I guess... but it's good to know one way or the other.

That is very useful information! I am always (well, not always, but sometimes!) telling people "Oh, you should try the DivaCup! If it doesn't work for you you can get a full refund!" I hope I haven't told anyone that since they discontinued refunds.

Gack.

When people ask about different types of menstrual cups, I always suggest the Diva Cup as the one to try -- even though I prefer my Mooncup UK -- simply because of the return policy. (The idea being that it's less of a financial risk if they know they can get their money back.)

Guess I'll start recommending the Mooncup UK more freely now... at least until I get my Lunette. ;)

That's a total bummer that they aren't offering refunds anymore. Thanks for letting us know!

I didn't see you other post but I know that when I put my Diva in for the first time of month, it is always really low and kind of poky. After I sleep with it in, it moves up to a more comfortable position and after that it's easier to get it higher up upon insertion. I think it's just part of my body getting used to it again.

Hope my rambling makes sense.

I didn't see your other post, either, but did you cut your stem off? If the cup is poking you, that might be part of the problem. I hacked mine off mercilessly, and the cup is a ton more comfortable than it was before. Also, after you insert the cup, if you lay down and then try to push it higher it might work better. It does for me.

I second cutting off the stem.

that's b.s.!

i've talked to them and done everything they've tried and it still leaks! it's just not big enough! >.>

I have personally not had great experiences with their customer service. I was having trouble inserting mine, e-mailed them for help, and was told they didn't offer personalized help for insertion over e-mail and I had to call. Which a) seemed silly (someone had obviously read and understood my e-mail well enough to copy and paste a standard response; why couldn't they spend 2 more minutes actually helping me out), and b) was actually pretty upsetting -- I was hormonal, frustrated, stressed out, and embarrassed, and I did NOT want to have to actually speak to someone about this!

Anyway, rant aside. ;) I have also found that the cup can be a little pokey, even after I've inserted it correctly (and I cut my stem off as well). Usually after about 40-60 minutes, it settles in somehow and I don't feel it anymore; so if you can stick with it for a little while (try to insert it an hour before you have to leave your house?) it will probably get better. Sometimes I find (and this may be TMI) it's pokey just because my bowels are full, which creates less space for the cup and actually pushes it a little out of my vagina; try making sure you've pooped before you put it in, and that might also help.

Good luck!

Oh, damn, that really sucks. I don't have one yet but I definitely would like to get one at some point. Or at least, I had planned on it before...now I don't know. Stupid company...they say they don't offer refunds because not many people end up wanting/needing them...well, if you really have that kind of confidence in your product, than it shouldn't be an issue to offer them, should it?

[identity profile] teenspot16.livejournal.com 2007-12-05 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
do the instructions still talk about the return policy?

[identity profile] jenn2525.livejournal.com 2007-12-12 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you plasticpepper. I want to return my and go the same email that says they won't due to health considerations. If you go to their order page, select a country and then look at the top of the page you will see that there is still a guarantee tab that says you can return it in a year.
http://www.divacup.com/index.php?page=content_guarantee.php.
I am going to email them and tell them that it is still on their page and they should honour it.

I have a size A Diva, and haven't had much problems with it once I cut the stem off. On the rare occasion that it becomes uncomfortable, I usually fold it, insert it as high as I can reach, twist it around until I'm sure it's completely unfolded again, then pull it down again until it's seated comfortably. That always works for me.

EDIT : I just realised how old this post is. Sorry, I'm new. Let's hope it helps someone else.

If a cup is pointy, it might be too long for your anatomy. Which wouldn't be surprising, given the Diva is the longest thing you can possibly stuff your vag with for protection purposes. If cutting the stem didn't make it short enough for you JUST FLIP IT INSIDE OUT. Seriously, it'll help a ton. I'm only yelling because it's so great you can actually wear it this way, and I'm amazed no one else suggested it before.

On a side note, there are a dozen of other brands out there, none of them costing more than 50$, and all of them pretty much shorter than the Diva. See the menstrual cups community : http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/
