Usually I never have cramps with my period, and if I do it's only for the first day. Well, I've been having terrible cramps this time around. It's this horrible pinching, twisting feeling. I'll go like a day without bleeding and then I get these cramps and I have tons of bleeding. I don't understand it, I've never had my period go back and forth like this and I've never experienced such terrible cramping.

What could be wrong? and what should I do?

if you have an IUD, you should see someone ASAP. >.<;; otherwise, what constitutes "tons of bleeding"? more than one maxipad every 15 minutes? if so, you should go to the hospital as I think that's considered to be hemmoraging. do painkillers help the pain at all or is it totally debilitating? either way, you should see your Dr if your cycle has changed that dramatically. the only question is how soon.

...if there's a chance you could have been pregnant, you could be having a miscarriage, esp. if this period was late... otherwise, it could just be a particularly bad cycle :-(.... make sure you drink enough water, and all that good stuff, to help your body deal... and if it goes on long, or goes past saturating a maxipad every hour or so, call your doctor because it might be something to check out. (also if the pain is excruciating--can't move, can't walk, anything like that)
