average age of loss of virginity today?

ok...so i looked through the memories and found only what i had found on my own quick research...i just want someone to tell me im not crazy.
i could have sworn that in the past year..at the most... i read in the newspaper as well as hearing about it on radio talk shows..that the average age u.s. kids lose their virginity now is 12..
im having a debate about it with my husband..because all we can find is articles with no links to studies or surveys saying its around 16...
I KNOW I READ SOMEWHERE THAT IT WAS 12..
but i guess maybe its not...
anyone have any links that show like legit numbers...or at least have heard this number too?

The youngest girl who has ever been pregnant was five years old -- a girl in Lima, Peru :D

Actually she was 3 or 4. I'll look for the article, I don't think it was Peru, but it may have been.

Well, I guess she was 4 when she was pregnant, but the youngest girl to ever give birth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_youngest_birth_mothers) was indeed Lina Medina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lina_Medina) of Paurange, Peru. The second youngest, an 8 year old, was also from Peru.

Ahh yea. Like I said in the comment below she was 5 afterall, I clicked the link linked by the comenter under your comment lol. So, I found it was 5. I was thinking of where it was posted in a yahoo group I'm on about her, and was like 'Huh? I thought she was 3 or 4" But apparently the group also said she was 4 when pregnant...
