Doctor/Patient confidentiality is a great thing. They can't say anything to anyone regarding your health/history without your permission. If you feel comfortable, just say "I'd really appreciate it if you don't discuss this matter with my mother" and the doc will reconfirm that s/he can't. Good luck at the appt, and don't worry about it, it's SO not as bad as people make them out to be.
