Cornstarch and YI

I pack and after cleaning my packer the instructions say to dust it with cornstarch (otherwise it gets tacky). The problem is that I have a yeast infection that I think was caused by the cornstarch. Not packing isn't an option, and I really prefer to pack against my skin, but I think that my packer and I might be passing the YI back and forth.

Obviously, having to deal with this is really upsetting for many reasons. I also am having a hard time trying to ask in in FTM forums, where they might have more specific knowledge, because I try to keep all the necessary girl stuff out of those places.

How can I be sure that my packer doesn't keep giving me YIs? Is baking soda safe to use on that area? I've heard of that as an alternative to cornstarch.

any help you can give would be really appreciated. this is really hard to ask. i feel really stupid.
