bra size

this may sound like a stupid question, but im rather confused.
the numbers in a bra size is the band and the letter is the cup. so logically thinking, it would seem that the first hook on say a 32b would be the same as the last hook on a 34b. am i missing something here?

A 34B is pretty much the same bra size as a 32C. They're called "sister sizes."

I would assume the minor differences are more about your own personal comfort. For instance, someone who's around 33 or 34 inches who prefers a snug fit would choose a 32. I like my bras snug, so while I may be a 38D-DD, I wear a 36D because it's more comfortable for me; I don't like it sliding around.

I wear a 38C, but I can fit in a 36D...

Just a note, the logic behind the three hooks is that you buy it so that the first hook fits. That way when the elastic stretches, you can use the next hook, and then the next, to make the bra last longer.

I dont get bra sizes either. When I measure myself at the fullest part, I'm like a 30. But when I try bras on I"m between a 32B to a 34B. It never makes sense. I buy bras within those ranges.

I don't think anyone will ever be able to figure out bra sizes. I recently found out that I fit very comfortably into a 36D... but I've been cruising around in a 36B for at least 5 years. Yikes. The trick is to be as patient as you can possibly be... and then be a little more patient. Not every store is the same, not every bra is the same, not all boobs are the same. You should also go bra shopping every 6 months. Your bras distort from wear, and your body also changes shape.

yea, cup sizes are proportional to band size. so it my case - a 36 DD will fit me, as will a 38 D, cupwise, but i tend to buy 38 Ds and take in the band a bit becuase DDs are harder to find, especially in pretty/frilly/non-grandmasish styles for cheap. a 34 B would be proprotional to a 32 C. if you go DOWN in band size, you go UP in cup size, and vice versa. lol, echoing what everyone else has said :)

Since some of the conversation has gotten into bra fittings and correct sizing, I thought I'd post this forum thread (http://forums.vaginapagina.com/viewtopic.php?t=29). It's basically my questions -- and answers (this is the helpful part) -- on how to make sure you're getting a good fitting, in other words, how you know you're being fitted into the best size possible for you.

Ooh, interesting comments, I never knew that!

My bras never fit well. I'm 30-34A depending, but my right breast seems smaller because my chest is caved in a lot on that side, so it never gets filled out and it's so awkward since in certain shirts you can see that the left breast fills the bra up and there's this...space lol on the right. It's annoying as hell.
