bra size

this may sound like a stupid question, but im rather confused.
the numbers in a bra size is the band and the letter is the cup. so logically thinking, it would seem that the first hook on say a 32b would be the same as the last hook on a 34b. am i missing something here?

I actually used to do the same thing - mostly because I shopped at places that would just have 32A, 34B, 36C, 38D, etc., and my own band size is smaller than what usually goes with the cup. But I saw this tip on some clothes show and realised that, hey, my bras didn't have to get loose after only a couple of months. :-D
