I was having a problem with yeast infections, and I'd get rid of them, have sex, and have another one.
Since semen makes the PH balance in the vagina go all wonky, I got rid of the YI, and have been making my boyfriend pull out, and then finishing him off with oral.
If he has a yeast infection from me, could that give me Thrush (or whatever it is that oral yeast infections are called)?
Also, does anyone have any links with really solid information on girls being sensative to semen, and it causing Yeast Infections.
Google is being no help at all, and I'd like to give my boyfriend something to just skim, so he has a better idea of what's up.

Testing is a bit spendy.
He doesn't have a foreskin.
If he just puts some monistat on it once a day for- what, a week, and he doesn't have one, will it do any harm?
Also- can we have sex while he's using it?
Aaand do you put it on the shaft, too, or just the head?

Date: 2006-08-26 10:25 am (UTC)my boyfriend has foreskin and was tested for YI's and treated. it has something to do with me as to why semen gives me YI's. it has happened with any guy that i have let ejaculate inside me.. (not that there has been that many) so i know its just my vagina. i figure i will just make him pull out. and someday if i want to have kids i can temporarily deal with a YI until i get pregnant.

Date: 2006-08-26 02:28 pm (UTC)See, every time I'm on my period, I end up having BV right after it's over. My boyfriend and I also tend to have sex at the very end of it, or the day after I stop bleeding, which always triggers the bleeding to start up for one more day or so, and then the BV kicks in.
Here's my theory: the semen itself is of a certain pH (basic, I believe...) so that it neutralizes the acidic environment of the male's urethra, and the vagina so that the sperm do not die instantly. For a female, our pH balance is SO delicate, some more than others, that any changes like this can throw us all off, which is how a YI occurs.
So I think for those of us with particularly delicate balances in there, the simple change the semen creates is enough to give us a nice infection, especially when coupled with the huge change that has already occured when you're on your period. That's what I think anyway, and it could be completely false, but it seemed to make sense to me...
