Withdrawal bleeding?

I took an ECP a few weeks ago which in turn caused a period-like bleeding. I called my clinic and talked to the nurse about it- she referred to it as "withdrawal bleeding" (I think that's what she said) due to the hormones. Can anyone expand on this a bit for me? What exactly is going on in my body during withdrawal bleeding? And is it that bleeding that throws off your cycle?

Okay, so the uterus IS still shedding its lining then. That's pretty much what I was trying to figure out, what exactly was bleeding if the uterus wasn't shedding.

I'm hoping my schedule is normal according to my withdrawal bleeding. That would make life so much easier and I would have much less reason to stress out, lol.
