Buttstickers-a.k.a. The Patch

I'm on Ortho Evra (the Patch) and yesterday was my new Patch day. I recently went from sticking the Patch on my butt to giving it a try on my shoulder, but the term "buttstickers" still applies around the house, haha.

Anyway, a few hours later, I was feeling absolutely miserable. My stomach was queasy as hell, and it was like a huge fight to keep my dinner down. My boyfriend asked me if I was feeling alright, and I told him my stomach was just bothering me some.

"Oh," he said. "It always does that on your new Patch day."
I was taken aback. "Really? I never noticed!"
"Oh yes. Every new Patch day, your tummy bothers you really bad a few hours after you put it on."

I honestly had never noticed before. My best guess is that the hormones are stronger in a fresh patch than in an old one, and my body is adjusting. How bad does it suck that female hormones can make us queasy, seriously? Blah.

Anyway, there wasn't much of a huge point to this post, except kind of a general query. Do any of you other vagina-lovin' ladies who use the Patch notice any issues like this after putting a fresh one on?

Not on the patch. I'm using the pill and for an hour after taking it every night I turn into a whining crybaby. Go female horomones! I just started this pill 9 days ago.

I've never worn the patch, but I always took my bcp at night so the symptoms wouldn't be noticed quite so much since I would be sleeping.

Now I take my prenatal at night so the symptoms aren't so bad.

You could try doing that next time you start a new pack of patches! :-)

Good luck!.

The patch was hormone hell for me. After slapping a new one on, the freak show began...achy tender boobs, mood swings between rage and sorrow, extreme nausea and frightening migraines. Just as my body was barely beginning to recover it was time to put another one on. I couldn't deal with it. I am now hbc free...and feeling much better.

Mine was the same. My stomach wasn't happy and I had a major headache. I was on the patch for about 10 months before switching to the Ring. I had a lot of other issues with the Patch, too - but I couldn't be happier to be off of it. It was hell.

YES YES YES! I have a very sensitive tsomach when it comes to hormones. When I put on the patch, I was vomiteing within about 6 hours. I ended up having to take it off and switching to a low dose pill, which still makes me queasy at the beginning of a new pack.

And guess what? My sister-in-law (doctor) says it just means we're going to have morning sickness when/if we get knocked up.

SHWING

i did for the first couple months, though it's since subsided... but yeah, that first rush of hormones can screw with your tummy. maybe some ginger or something?

I'm sorry to hear that.... But aren't partners great for this! Mine always notices funny things like that =)

Try drinking ginger tea or eating crystallized ginger. It's great for nausea.

I used the patch for a little over 2 years, and everything was fine and dandy for the first 9 months and then i started getting horrible nausea the morning after i put my new patch on. Every month i had what i can only imagine morning sickness must be like. I assume it's the large dose of hormones too.
I finally switched to the ring and it's great! I'd suggest switching birth control, i loved the patch, but being sick one day of month because of it sucks.

To help with nausea i'd drink ginger tea and eat crackers like saltines, or sometimes drink a little soda, the carbonation seemed to help. more burping, less vomiting.

I don't get quesy, but sometimes I get a little bit of a headache. Other than that, I just like an excuse to spank myself when I put the Patch on (kidding, :-P).

ugh... the whole month i used the (Ortho Evra) patch i was sick to my stomach. i could barely eat without feeling like i had to throw up. i couldnt do anything strenuous at all. ldfsjfgfhg.

i stopped using it after hearing about all the deaths last year from blood clots (related to Ortho Evra). scary.
