Antibiotics delaying period?

Can antibiotics delay your period? I got my wisdom teeth out last friday and was on antibiotics for four days afterwards. My period should have started on Wednesday and has been eerily regular for the past year so I'm trying to figure out what happened.

antibiotics can mess up a lot in everyone. When I was on antibiotics last month they messed up my HBC and I ended up getting my period twice in one month.

I'll just say ... it's a good bet they might've. Just remember periods are almost subjective. Been stressed out at all lately? Heh. Too many things can delay your period, but I'd say the antibiotics are a good bet if you've been regular for the past ... year lol.

You say you just had your widsdom teeth removed and now your period is late.

This same exact thing happened to me. I had my wisdom teeth removed a few years ago and my cycle was a full week late afterwards. I was supposed to get it sometime shortly after the teeth were removed & it was a week late.

Personally, I attributed this lateness not to the antibiotics, but rather to the total trauma my body just went through. If your mouth was anything like mine, you were bleeding for days afterward. I figure the surgery was so traumatic, it threw EVERYTHING off.

The bleeding in my mouth actually stopped after the first two days, I consider myself insanely lucky. My mother kept talking about how she was allergic to the pain meds and the doctor didn't believe her and she ripped the stitches throwing up and I was horribly afraid it would just be awful. Instead I just slept for about 5 days.

Maybe it wasn't the antibiotics, but the pain meds...
Can vicodin shift your menstrual cycle around?

Vicodin? Don't ask me; I was more like your mom, all throwing up my guts when I first got home! I couldn't take that stuff. So I was in pretty bad shape for awhile.

I'm much more inclined to still think it was your surgery that is pushing your cycle back.

the same thing happened to me! I put it down to stress levels. I only got my period after I managed to start functioning properly (like, being able to move and stand up for more than 5 mins)
