Late Period After Coming Off BC

Hi Everyone,

I'm very new to this community and am seeking advice. Please don't let the name of my journal fool you: I'm really a tiki woman hehe, this was originally established as a joke journal, but now I use it to mask my true identity when asking embarrassing questions such as this.

My concern is probably much more common than my own mind makes it out to be, but nevertheless, my mind is running rampant about what could be wrong with me. I was on the birth contol pill for four years (since the time I was 16). I am now 20 years old and involuntarily took myself off of it due to lack of transport to take me to fill my prescription (school was extremely stressful last semester, so I unfortunately waited til the last minute to try to pick it up and by the time I recieved it, 4 days had passed since the sunday I was supposed to take it, so I didn't want to start taking it when such a large gap of time had lapsed).

In the meantime, I did have two or three sexual encounters.

I have not gotten my period since the beginning of October. I spotted once last month for about 3 days, but that has been it as far as bleeding goes. I have taken two pregnancy tests, both have come back negative. I'd like to think that is very true since I've lost weight, my boobs have not increased in any size, I'm never nauseous and, well, basically I show absolutely no signs of being pregnant.

I called my doctor regarding the situation and she basically had nothing to say aside from, just wait and see what happens this month. I'm not exactly nervous, but it would be a giant wave of relief if my period would hurry up and get here.

My question is, has this happened to anyone before? Does your body perhaps need to naturally regulate itself after being controlled by the pill for such a long time? I have terrible communication skills and find asking anyone about this face to face very taxing and embarrassing.

I whole heartedly appreciate your advice in advance.

Thank you.
