At my last gyno exam, the nurse pointed out two bumps in my crotchular area that she said were benign, and could be removed by using some kind of topical medicine they have. I forgot what exactly she said they were, or what caused them. There's one kind of on my lower butt cheek that feels like a big pimple or a wart, and it's been there for several months. Then there's a tiny bump on my inner thigh near where my labia touch it, and it's been there longer. I accidentally shaved it off once (ow!) and it just came back. At first I thought it was just a pimple, too, but it's not. I doubt they are ingrown hairs also since I rarely shave the inner thigh area (except that one time, and the bump was already there) and the bump on my butt is on an area where hair doesn't grow. Anyone know what these are? There hasn't been any change in my risk for disease, either, and since the nurse said they were benign I'm guessing it may be some kind of localized cancer thing, or fungal thing?

Edit: I looked at them in the mirror. They are dark pinkish-red overgrown freckle looking things. Originally I thought they were freckles, until they started getting bigger and 3-d. The bigger one on my butt also feels kind of tender, not tough like a mole would. Its surface is smooth and flat, but it's raised. It might even be a different thing than the one on my inner thigh...

Maybe it is just regular warts then? You can get them in weird place.. I'd say they could be skin tags, but they sound to large to be skin tags. You might jsut call your doc and ask about them. It should be in your chart and if it's not you can probably talk to your doctor.

another thing--when i discovered my two littles bumps..i was convinced they were skin tags. i was relatively confident that they were not (and they are not) warts..but i really did think they were more like skin tags. they are just as small and insignificant.

but i've had skin tags of all sizes.

i would doubt that it's cancerous. i mean i can't say that for sure, i'm not the doctor, but skin cancer for instance is usually something that occurs on an area exposed to a LOT of sun..probably not your butt right?

and remember that a lot of things like warts, etc., don't always have symptoms right away. so unless you've been tested for these things, you don't know.

again, my advice is call your doctor and see what they named them as, and let them know what's going on now.

ps. pictures online can be really helpful, but they can also be deceiving. for instance with the warts, most of the pictures you see are of genital warts which are REALLY far along and developed, not like what you would be looking for now.
