Hey all! I'm another newbie...
I've had a bit of cunt-related problems in the past few months and would like some help/advice:

Around September '04 or so, I noticed this ring of red skin on my back (looked similar to ringworm) and a patch of the same, though not circular, on my chest between my right breast and underarm.
I got some over the counter medication for it, since my mom assumed it was ringworm (I had never had it before). It didn't really go away. Ever. The itchiness and redness pretty much stopped but there are still visible marks on my skin from the debacle. Moving on:
Not very long after that (about a week) I noticed a small red bump on my vulva, which led to two bumps, one large one which creeped into my vaginal opening and a smaller (but still large) one a bit to the right of it.
It itched like hell and hurt so bad that I actually tried to stop peeing. I missed a day of school and had trouble sitting. I freaked and thought it was probably an STD of some sort.
So I went to the gyno, (my first visit ever) and the nurse-lady tells me that it was probably the worst bump ever, but that it didnt have all the characteristics of herpes or general warts.
I was tested for herpes, syphillis, and chlamydia (to my knowledge).
I read up on all of them and so I was praying with all of my might that it was not herpes, which is what everyone else was assuming, since I also had that skin rash.
I should also mention that around the same time I had a huge gaping sore in the back of my throat.
I have been through so much pain this past year, ladies!
The mouth sores eventually went away on their own, although I did go to the doctor. He said there was nothing he could give me to make them go away, except for a ridiculously revolting numbing 'medicine' that was to be swished around in my throat. I refused to use it, as it didnt work anyways.

So I got my results back about a week later from the gyno, and I came up negative for all of the STDs I was tested for.
I have not had an 'outbreak' since.

However, about a month or so ago I had my first PAP done, and the results came back saying I had abnormal dysplasia of the cervix.
I was supposed to come back and have my cervix frozen.
I should note that it was about a week from my period when I had the PAP done.

Now I don't know what to believe, and really want to get ANOTHER gyno to get a totally new PAP done.
I am worried because in the past couple of days my vulva has been itchy again (along with various other parts of my body), but none of those sores or bumps.
What do you guys think about this whole experience?
It's definitely scared me, as this was my first experience with the gyno ever.
Should I assume I have an STD even if no other outbreak has evolved since September?
Is that normal?
And should I just get tested for EVERYTHING at numerous places?
I am covered by my dad's insurance but my mom usually ends up taking me and she has to pay the other charges for the visit. She is a single mother with 3 kids, and we can barely afford to eat 2-3 meals a day.
Advice!!!!!?

If you have dysplasia, you have hpv (i think, correct me if i am wrong, but i believe this is the only cause of dysplasia). hpv is an std. however, the type of hpv is not the same one that causes warts, so it is not related to the bumps. you could have multiple types of hpv, though. this all may or may not be related to the rashes. i would keep poking at the docs and be aware that you very likely do have an std which is passed with skin to skin contact, and therefore is not fully prevented by condoms.

Dysplasia just means abnormal growth. It doesnt necssarily mean anything really serious is wrong, just that another look should be taken to see what's up. :)

Nope. You can have dysplacia without having HPV. My doc said that mine was probably caused by the constant second-hand smoke growing up.

What my doctor told me was that everyone knows the dangers of smoking - lung cancer, throat/mouth cancer, etc. What people don't know is that the toxins tend to collect on your cervix as well.

When I told my doctor that I don't smoke (I smoke *maybe* one a month when I'm at the bar, but usually less than that), he did not believe me. He said that based on what it looked like and the cells he gathered he would have thought that I was a smoker.

Were you actually tested for HPV? When I was first told dysplacia, all the research I did said HPV everywhere. But when I asked my doctor about it, he said that the test came up negative.
