What are some of the things that kick your period back a few days?

My period is 5 days late now, and excluding pregnancy, what might be causing that? My breasts are sore like usual, I had a typical PMS cycle.. everything is normal but my period is just missing.

Is there anything i can do/avoid to encourage it's onset?

temporarily taking bc?

First time poster =]

I am currently living at college, and a good friend of mine is going to be visiting me sometime within the next month. The plan is for him to stay the weekend, and I'm sure we will end up having sex. The catch is that he isn't telling me ahead of time exactly which weekend he's coming... he wants it to be a "surprise" by calling me from the train when he's on his way to me. It could be anywhere from the 2nd weekend in April to the last. Kind of inconvenient on my part, but he's trying to be cute, so how could I object?
Anyway, the point is that he could end up coming the week I have my period. This would be a huge downer for me... I am completely turned off by the thought of even being touched down there while on the rag.
A friend suggested to me I go on birth control to stop my period. I really only want to take it long enough so that I don't have my period when he's here. I don't have sex often enough to consider taking bc long-term, it would simply be a short-term solution.
Would this be a good idea? Any other suggestions?
Also, just out of curiosity... say I would end up taking birth control for this purpose... even though I wouldn't be on it for more than a month (at least I don't think I would need to be) would I be sufficiently protected from pregnancy?

cramps & depo provera

Hello all!

I had my very first Depo Provera shot on February 28th, and so far I love it! I think that I am one of the lucky ladies who does not get her period even after just the first shot, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm psyched. I've always had terrible cramps and horribly oily skin while I'm on the rag, and I'm more than happy to get rid of this beast.

However, despite the disappearance of my period, I have been getting these tiny little cramps from time to time. They mirror the ones that I used to get right before my cycle started, and i can tell that it's not just a belly ache as they're quite low in my abdomen and center around my pelvic bone. My question is this: have any of you other lovely ladies experienced this either on the shot or other hormonal birth control? Do you think that it's something I should get checked out?

irregular period worry

Hi, my name is Therese, and I'm a 21-year old Filipina-American.

I'm just worried--I have been charting my menstrual periods for a year now, and I usually have it after 28 or 32 days, but due to recent stress from an overloaded semester that I just finished, my last two periods have occured after 14 or 13 days EACH. Also, I've been experiencing huge blood clumps in the (toilet) bowl with my urine, my urine, though my menstrual flow is extremely light. I don't understand what's going on. Should I consult a gynecologist?

Sorry, I couldn't find this particular thing!

So, I've never been one to spot, but this week, mid cycle, I've started spuradic, sometimes heavy spotting. And it's not light drops... it's sometimes sudden bursts of 2-3 Tbs. full.
And it's not bright red blood, it's dark red to brown, almost black and very thick. No clots.

Along with that, I have been cramping lightly.

I have an IUD... my girlfriend thinks I might be trying to expell my IUD?

There is no chance that I have an STD...

Do I need to go to a Doc? Or is this just a normal part of getting older? (27)

While i think its a terrible shame for these women, there are also parts of the article that i take extreme issue with. I'll let you loverly ladies come to those conclusions yourself.

I would love to try to get companies like gladrags, divacup, the keeper, and mooncup involved, perhaps making some donations to help with the problem (more than the suggested solutions would!)

there's a line in there about not having "clean water" to wash their reusables so reusables are not an option. I don't understand how boiling in non-drinkable water is not a viable solution. honestly, it sounds like a cop out to me. maybe i'm being too militant though.

ok....idk if im over reacting or not but idk wat to do so someone please help! i had a tampon in before and when i took it out i heard it like rip and there was a little chunk of it missing. and i immediatly started freaking out bc i knew that meant it was stuck up there....and if u leave a tampon in too long u can get TSS and die! and i dont want to die! so i got over my weird fear of sticking my own fingers up there and stuck one up there looking for it and i couldnt find it. so i figured id just not worry about it for a while and see if my period just liek pushed it out. so in the mean time i went for a nice long walk with my friend hoping that might push it out as well. but when i got home and went to the bathroom, nothing. so i again stuck my finger up there lookin for it and came out with nothing but a disgusting bloody finger(sorry if this is gross but its easier to just say it blunlty) but anyway its been liek 7 hours since i put the tampon in and the rule of thumb is never to leave it in for more then 8 so anyway my point it....1.) could u get tss from just a little piece of a tampon being left up there and 2.) if so, how should i go about getting it out?! maybe im just not putting my finger up there enough??? ew it feels really effing weird putting my finger in there too. idk someone please help!!!!

first time tampon user!

So I've always been scared of using tampon but today I decided to go for it.

I read the instructions and did everything to a T. But when I stand up and uh...squeeze my vaginal muscles, it feels like I'm going to push the tampon out.

I'm almost postive I put the applicator up to the line and then pushed up the actual tampon.

Is it not in far enough, or should I just stop squeeze my vaginal muscles?

so me and boyfriend have been fighting the last few days. like really bad. i think everythings back to normal, but we're going to have some alone time tomorrow..so are there any ideas for great make up sex? not too kinky, i guess, i want to keep the "lovemaking" factor in there..can someone please help? this isn't a sex survey, i jsut don't know what to do..i hate our fighting and i need things to be normal again.

Nuvaring drug interactions

Hi,

I'm having my wisdom teeth out tomorrow, and I would like to know if my antibiotics will interact with Nuvaring. I suspect they wouldn't since it doesn't go through the metabolic system, but I'm just double-checking. Thanks!
