Gosh I feel like a dumb-ass having to ask advice about this, but it doesn't seem worth calling the doctor about. Here's the scenario. I've been on tri-cyclen for like three years. Last night I accidently dropped the pill I was about to take down the sink drain! So I just took the next day's pill and decided to worry about it in the morning. Now I'm really not sure what to do. I could:
a) Keep taking a pill every day until the end of the pill pack, and start my next pack a day earlier than I usually do.
b) Keep taking a pill every day until the end of the pill pack, and then wait 8 days instead of 7 taking no pill (or placebo), and start the next pack on the normal day of the week.
or??? (any suggestions?)
I'm not really worried that this is going to effect how well the pill works, I'm just totally confused and wonder what the best thing is to do. Anyone else had this happen before?? I know its not rocket science, but I can't help it, my math skills suck.

I have bacterial vaginosis, which my friends and iI jokingly call stinky pussy disease. My gyno put me on a medication which was supposed to get rid of it and it didnt. I know I need to go back and see my doctor, but does anyone know of anything else I can do if the meds dont work?

i expect i am the only person here who frets about not having enough of a period. i think it's very healthy and detoxifying and i've been very miffed that mine seems to have gotten extremely light. lately, i also have terrible PMS and the worse it is, the less of a period i get. at least this month, for reasons unknown to me except that i'm eating foods with a low glycemic index and taking essential fatty acid supplements, my PMS was not as bad as usual. i'm waiting for my monthly migraine which is lurking in the wings, i can feel it.

to the point... has anyone else noticed a real change in their cycle in their 30s? because mine has definitely gotten odd with this very light flow and shorter cycles. (21-28 days, depending on stress levels... more stress, shorter?! cycle) i've also noticed a darkening of the hair between my eyebrows and on my upper lip which i think might be related to the hormonal changes.

Oppose the Teen Endangerment Act (H.R. 476) - Save Young Women's Lives!

Your action is urgently needed! Please call and email your U.S. representative immediately and urge her or him to oppose a bill that would be lethal to young women.

The Teen Endangerment Act (H.R. 476) would criminalize anyone other than a parent who accompanies a minor across state lines for an abortion if she has not complied with her home state's parental consent or notification law. A grandmother, older sister or religious counselor could face a year in prison and a $100,000 fine if convicted of taking a teen to another state for an abortion.

The bill's Republican sponsors claim it would increase parents' involvement in their daughter's abortion decisions. In reality, this bill is yet another attempt by the Bush administration and anti-abortion forces to criminalize abortion.

The bill ignores the many young women in abusive families who simply cannot talk to their parents about a pregnancy. In fact, House Republicans are so callous to the needs of pregnant teens that, in a parliamentary maneuver, they prevented Democrats from even voting on amendments to the bill that would exempt girls who are pregnant as a result of incest. And they didn't think about the fact that if a teenage girl feels she has no one to whom she can turn, she may take matters into her own hands - with lethal results.

Here are your talking points on the counterproductive Teen Endangerment Act:

* Government cannot mandate open family communication where it does not exist. Many young women in troubled families cannot tell their parents about a crisis pregnancy without fearing for their lives. In Idaho, a man shot and killed his 13-year-old daughter when she told him she was going to abort the fetus he "fathered." When a young woman cannot involve a parent in an abortion decision - because of incest or any other reason - government policy should encourage her to consult a trusted adult.

* Teenage girls with healthy relationships with their parents die as a result of mandatory parental involvement and notification laws. In 1988, 17-year-old Becky Bell of Indiana died after a "back alley" abortion because she could not obtain a safe, legal one without informing her parents - she didn't want to tell her parents she was pregnant for fear of disappointing them. Major medical associations including the American Medical Association and the American Public Health Association oppose mandatory parental involvement laws precisely because of these dangers.

* People in the U.S. have the right to exercise their constitutional rights in all states, not just in their home state. If passed into law, this bill would raise serious federalism issues - not unlike making it a federal crime for residents of states that prohibit gambling to go on a gambling vacation to Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

* The bill will not encourage young women to consult their parents about an abortion decision. Studies show that teenagers talk to their parents about a crisis pregnancy at the same rate in states with and without parental involvement laws. If a girl decides she cannot talk to a parent, legislation like this will not change her mind. The bill would only prevent young women from seeking guidance from trusted adults, including religious counselors, medical providers and other adult family members.

The bill passed the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, March 21 and is now scheduled for a full House vote after the spring recess in April. If passed in the House, it will go to the Senate where its future is uncertain. Please contact your U.S. representative and urge him or her to oppose the Teen Endangerment Act, a cruel attempt by legislators to use government regulation to take away the reproductive rights of young women.

so now i have another question. i think i'm over the PID scare. the past 2 periods i've had terrible PMS. the thing is it never used to affect my moods very much, but i was cranky, crying easily... coincidentally i spent both of my PMSs with my girlfriend and i was too cranky with her, she said it was ok, but i felt bad. i don't want PMS to rule my life. what can i do to prevent this? also, can a couple of cups of coffee a week affect me that much? that's really the only thing i can think of (this is my first semester at college) when during my cycle would it affect me the most? thanks:)

I know this doesn't have much to do with women's health and bodies per say, but I think it's a really wonderful article about "gender" and sexuality. Enjoy!
