Update on pregnancy scare: ???

So i got my period, but pretty early. Could I still be pregnant? Whens the best time to take a test? Also, I have this half inch area in my pubic area that is more sensitive to getting pimples/cysts. i feel a slight lump every once inawhile almost like a cyst or something. Why is this specific area so sensitive/prone to swelling up? Could my period be making this worse? can an sti do that?
