I had a medical, rather than a surgical, abortion at 6weeks, and I bled for 6 weeks after.... of course, i have no idea whether that is the nature of medical vs surgical abortion, i just know that from my experience a prolonged period of bleeding was 'normal'. By bleeding was also constant though, like an incredibly long period.
