Strange Pains

I have some unidentified symptoms and was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences or thoughts.

Last month, right after I ovulated I had a sudden burst of pain in my uterine/ovarian area. It was sharp and stabbing, to the point where sitting in a chair was uncomfortable. This lasted for a day. After this subsided, I was still in considerable pain for a few days. My OB/GYN poked around and felt no cysts, but suggested that I could have an ovarian cyst or possibly endometriosis. The pain went away completely and I worried little about it.

Yesterday, again right after ovulation, it came back. It is not as bad, though sitting again is uncomfortable and at times it feels like menstrual cramps, but I am not bleeding. It hurts to urinate, but any urinary or bladdar infection has been ruled out. I went again to the doctor who still does not know what it is. I have scheduled an ultrasound for the 28th.

He suggested that I go back on birth control pills. (This is not my regular doctor, but the only one in her office who could see me ASAP.) He said that since I am not trying to get pregnant, I should reconsider the pill since it would help if the pain is being caused by endometriosis or ovarian cysts. I want to avoid going back on the pill, and was wondering if any of you have experienced this with some kind of diagnosis, and if given the possibilities there might be more natural ways to prevent this from happening again.

I have the same sort of pain. I had no idea this was a fairly common occurence in women. I went to my gyno, and was told that my right ovary was enlaged. The ultrasound revealed follicles on my ovary which the doctor insisted would be gone with my next period. It's going on seven months now of this pain, and it hasn't lessened. I'm planning to go back to the doctor once I find one in my area. Good luck with yours! It's so frustrating to have a problem that seemingly has no answer.

In your case, with the multiple follicles, please check into PCOS on the web. It's very often overlooked and misdiagnosed by doctors. I would recommend researching it extensively and taking the research with you to the doctor.

Thanks for letting me know about that. I didn't know these type of follicles were a symptom of PCOS. I don't seem to have any of the other symptoms, but I'll definitely bring it up with my doctor at my next appointment.
