Doxycycline and the pill?

Okay, here's the deal. I just got back from India and I'm on Doxycycline for the next month as an antimalarial. Doxycycline can make the pill less effective because it contains an antibiotic and I'm not having sex right now anyhow, but do use a second form of protection when I do. I'm on my period right now so the month that I'm on Doxycycline covers an entire cycle of birth control pills.

Does it make sense for me to just go off the pill for a month? Are there any negative implications to doing so? I've been on the pill for six years without a break in taking it. What would you do?
