In terms of the practicalities, a sonogram picks up whatever is in its field; thus, it's difficult or impossible to get a sonogram of only a kidney, for example. In terms of consent and procedure, an abdominal sonogram can include non-digestive organs in the abdomen, but absent the fine print of your specific consent form, I couldn't say for sure.
