If you stop taking your pills right now and you haven't had 21+ days of active pills, you won't be protected from pregnancy. If I'm reading correctly, you have taken an entire pill pack and you went straight through to this one, so you could go ahead and give yourself a 7 (or fewer) day break.

The spotting you're having does sound pretty normal to me for someone who's going straight through packs without a placebo week. It can take a while for your body to adjust, and you have start spotting even if you haven't before. It's difficult to say how long the spotting will last, but having a regular placebo week can help.
