acidophilus refrigerated?

I bought it about a week ago, and opened it at the same time. Just now reading the bottle, it says to refrigerate after opening. Should I throw the bottle out and get more, or should I just throw it in the fridge now, and I should be ok.

Thanks!

i did exactly the same thing.
my friends said to throw it out cuz the culture would have died. i think like a day max is ok.
not sure if its right but its what i did, shame!

also - you should probably just call the manufacturer to ask them :)

We've always refrigerated ours at my house. My mom said if the bottle wasn't refrigerated, the cultures would die (maybe like if you left a thingy of yogurt out for a while...I certainly wouldn't want to eat it, cultures or not). Not sure if that helps, but there you have it.

Well, now I'm confused. Is this Acidophilus pills? Because mine weren't refrigerated before I bought them, what would be the difference?

The refrigerated ones are ritzier, more expensive and with a higher count of live bacteria, but there's not a huge difference overall.

O.P., I'd keep taking them because they're probably not any less effective than the ones that were never refrigerated, which isn't too bad.

The instruction leaflet that came with my acidophilus capsules said they should be refrigerated but could be stored at room temp for up to four weeks. So I would call/e-mail the manufacturer.
