I'm more curious than concerned at the moment, but I have to wonder if this is normal or if I should get myself to a doctor about it.
Some background:
I'm on combined birth control for my endometriosis. I also have the unfortunate luck of having migraines with auras, which I know I shouldn't be taking a combined pill because of the increased risk of stroke, but according to my doctor I have to. One of my migraine triggers is the hormonal flux just before my period (from what I've been reading lately it sounds like it might be caused by the drop in estrogen), but so far the birth control doesn't seem to trigger them all the time (I still get them occasionally, but nothing more unusual than before I went on birth control). So I haven't worried about it too much.
I recently switched from the Nuva Ring to Yaz, back to back with no period in between, and I've been on Yaz for 10 days now. I've noticed nothing different between the two pills except nausea at first and the fact that I can now feel other things besides a constant depression. Yay!
But what concerns me is that I've noticed the last few times I've had an orgasm (in the last couple of days) that I get this vision disturbance that's a lot like the migraine aura. It's kind of sparkly, in a snowflake like pattern, and it doesn't go away for a while (I haven't timed it yet but I think it lasts for 10 to 15 minutes). But it's also not accompanied by anything else. No pain, no nausea, and it doesn't act like my migraine aura (which is a cresent moon shaped thing that progressively gets bigger and goes away after exactly 30 minutes). I'm perfectly fine when it goes away.
Obviously this isn't normal for me and it's never happened before, and maybe I'm being paranoid because of the risk- but is this something I should worry about?
Thanks!

Date: 2008-12-31 07:03 am (UTC)I get funky visual things when I'm right about to orgasm because...I'm hyperventilating. All that heavy breathing makes me literally "see stars."
